We have tested accessing eBooks at 512kbps and 2000ms latency without any issue. The library is slow only at first access for each book (due to the initial download).

After the first access, bandwidth usage becomes very low (kB, not MB) so we could reduce the data rate to 64kbps, latency 2000ms (corresponding to the worst possible VSAT connection) and Witherby Connect still worked OK.

With a very slow connection, it is recommended to download the library while in port or having access to a good mobile connection. It is also important to make sure that "cookies and other site data" are preserved in the browser cache (see this other FAQ).
